What is my purpose?

I’ve spent an awful lot of time trying to figure out life’s great questions, who am I? What is my purpose? How do I fulfil my purpose and still make an income? Is this what I’m supposed to do with my life?

The answer, I’ve come to realise is much simpler than I first anticipated.

Think about it. What’s the quickest way from A to B?

A straight line!

And what does the lord promise us in proverbs 3:5-6? “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

I realise more and more the truth; that we are designed to live in relationship with God and that he is the quickest and only way to live our true purpose. The purpose he assigned and designed for us during creation.

God is actively invested in us and wants to see us succeed in the plan he has for us! So much so that Jesus lovingly told us in John 14:13, “You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father.”

Both Jesus and our Heavenly Father are willing to do anything to help us, even endure torture and death in our place when we least deserve it. Imagine what they are willing to do when we choose to enter into a loving and trusting relationship with them.

I have realised on my journey that God does not call the qualified, he qualifies the called!

As Jesus said in Mark 2:17, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

When we enter into a relationship with Jesus we are reborn, a new creation, loved unconditionally with all sin forgiven. It is at this point that God can begin to gently mould us into the person we were designed to be before the world got in the way.

For me this was more about unbecoming what the world had made me so that I could become who I am supposed to be in Christ.

This process has given me unbelievable peace and healing for the first time in my life. I no longer doubt my self-worth, feel insecure or anxious, and I know that with the strength and power of God inside me I can cope with anything life throws at me.

I am firmly safe in the knowledge that I am loved unconditionally, beyond anything I could ever comprehend.

If God could love and forgive me when I was dead in sin then I know he love’s me now I am born again too!

The beauty of the Holy Spirit is that when I do sin I am more aware and convicted to repent and learn how to change. No matter how many times I fail and get things wrong, God’s Grace is sufficient for me.

There is nothing that can separate me from his love now and I will continue to be changed, and moulded into who God designed me to be.

I find myself so empowered and grateful knowing John 3:17, “God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.”

I put this to you; make the choice to forget your fear, trust in the Lord and meet Jesus on the water.

Learn from Peter who only began to sink when he, despite already walking on the water looked down at the waves and began to worry and doubt, leaning on his own understanding rather than trusting Jesus.

You are God’s beloved child and you can do ALL things through he who strengthens you! Let God change and Lead you to your purpose.
